monta who? We hear that a lot here in the US. But a quick glance of their website shows they are older than any US tape maker, by almost half a century. Founded as Mechanische Bindfadenfabrik Immenstadt (Mechanical Tape Factory Immenstadt) in 1855 they were showing 3M a thing or two well before the guys in Minnesota came together in 1902.

By 1920 they merged with Mechanische Hanfspinnerei und Seilerei (Mechanical Hemp Spinning Mill and Rope Factory). New company name became Hanfwerke Füssen-Immenstadt AG (Hemp Factory Füssen-Immenstadt AG).

By 1967 they added their first coating line figuring, we guess, that if you can't tie it (hemp) you can tape it (PVC).
